Default Shaun White

Hey, i thought this place was full of American sports fanatics - where's the love for the Flying Tomato?

His first run in the finals was great - nothing too spectacular, but it set a mark that none of the other competitors could match. When it came to his final run, he'd already won gold, so there was no pressure.

What a run. Not perfect, sure - but the best ever score in the event's short olympic history.

He even finished his run with a double McTwist 1260, just because.

The guy's in a league of his own.

A nice guy and most likely a multi-millionaire as well.

Snoggie means nothing too spectacular for Shawn White. He was saving the new stuff for his second if needed. It wasn't, but he did it anyways. He's a great showman. And, yes, he is most likely a multi-millionaire from his endorsements that have been going on for years. Both the types of gold are well deserved.

If only he wasn't red-headed, he might be accepted in society.

Oh well.

His runs were epic. He got a well deserved gold. What i was bummed about was Louie Vito. He had a great second run and would have had a metal if he had a cleaner straight air.

It's strange that snowboarding is a fully accepted olympic sport, yet skateboarding has never got a look in. I seem to recall that Shaun White was coached by Tony Hawk in that field.

(Oh, and it was very amusing to hear a BBC commentator getting embarrassed by snowboard lingo last night. One of the women halfpipe competitors "pulled off a truck driver stiffy" and he had to say "er, that isn't at all what it sounds like" )
